Local Charity for March 4-10: 500 Women Scientists

Our mission is to create a scientific community that is open, inclusive, and accessible to all by empowering women in STEM fields in the greater St. Louis area through the following avenues: 1) mentorship and networking opportunities, 2) professional development, and 3) collaboration with local science advocacy groups, charitable entities, and women’s organizations. Our goals are to support local and national scientific endeavors, promote an equitable and inclusive scientific community in the St. Louis area, and enhance scientific literacy and understanding between scientists and non-scientists. Through these efforts we will expand the public’s view of who we are as women scientists, what we do, and the issues for which we stand.

We hold members’ meetings about once a month and all individuals identifying as women who work in STEM fields are welcome to attend. We also hold several events throughout the year for scientists and non-scientists, men and women, adults and children alike. Our biggest event is our “Beer With a Woman Scientist” event, held annually in January and open to the public.
