15 Jul Charity for July 16-21: Immigrant & Refugee Women’s Program
Immigrant & Refugee Women’s Program’s (IRWP) mission is to increase the independence and reduce the isolation of immigrant and refugee women by teaching them basic English and practical living skills in the security of their own homes. In 2018, 394 teachers volunteered over 14,000 hours teaching 383 students. We match volunteer teachers with adult Immigrant & Refugee learners in our community to develop English and Life Skills. Along the way, our teachers and students create new friendships and learn about each other. Volunteers are not required to have any formal teaching experience, and classes are conducted for two hours a week in the students’ homes.
IRWP currently has over 200 students on the waiting list for a teacher. Volunteers just need to invest 2 hours a week to change a life. If you are interested check out irwpstl.org or call 314-771-1104.
