Charity for May 24-29: Jazz St. Louis

Jazz St. Louis is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to lead our community in advancing the uniquely American art of jazz through performance, education, and community engagement. Each year, Jazz St. Louis presents an 18-show subscription series consisting of performances by nationally acclaimed artists and highlights local and regional musicians. In addition to our performance series, Jazz St. Louis presents numerous free education programs that reach thousands of youth in our community each year. These include intensive music training programs for middle and high school students (JazzU and Jazz Academy); in-school clinics and performance opportunities (Emerson Jazz for our Schools and Artist Residency Program); and music motor therapy (Beat NF). In addition to these programs, Jazz St. Louis hosts numerous activities that present jazz in a non-traditional way in order to engage new audiences. These include a monthly book club and our annual Jazz Speaks program, a free series of talks and performances surrounding jazz history and its impact on American culture.
